The Samsodien Foundation NPC was founded in honour of the late Roxzanne Renèe Samsodien. Roxy was known for someone who cared, had compassion and had an abundance of empathy. The Roxy Assist Services program was therefore designed to provide each *family that joins on the Foundation’s website, with access to a range of assist benefits at no costs to ensure families have peace of mind.

MEDICAL ADVICE LINE

24/7 Emergency Call Centre where the medical team is actively involved in all cases, liaising with the treating medical professionals and planning the most appropriate medical management. The services for medical scheme and non-medical scheme members include but are not limited to.

  • Emergency first aid advice
  • General health advice
  • Symptom assessment (home care advice or referral to pharmacy in the case of minor ailments)
  • Information about chronic diseases
  • Management with home care solutions
  • Covid-19 Information and advice line
  • Referral to GP or a pharmacy for medication
  • Referral to an ER or ambulance service, in the event of emergency medical treatment

TRAUMA COUNSELLING

Should the counsellor determine a need for additional face-to-face counselling, the member will be directed to an appropriate trauma counselling centre or network counsellor / psychologist covered by the medical scheme or for the member’s account. Telephonic counselling is at no cost.

HIV PREVENTION, RAPE & ASSAULT SUPPORT

  • 24/7/365 access to trauma counsellors following an event and for post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Referral to a doctor or clinic for counselling and implementation of short-term anti- retroviral drug regime, if required
  • Initial blood tests, if required
  • Morning-after-pill, if required
  • Sexually transmitted infection medication, if required
  • Follow up blood tests are organised and the progress is managed accordingly
  • Ongoing counselling and support

EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONSE

  • Access to a 24/7/365 Emergency Medical Centre.
  • Dedicated case managers, who will assist the client from their initial contact to the resolution of their case.
  • Expert medical advice, support and counselling.
  • Co-ordination of emergency transportation through our network.
  • Assistance with Doctor consultations, Medication and Hospital Admission to a suitable facility within our network.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION

Members have access to the 24/7/365 Emergency Medical Centre where skilled dispatchers are able to dispatch road ambulances to any emergency. Complete incident management includes.

  • Immediate assessment of the accident
  • Dispatch of the nearest ambulance, medical response vehicle and emergency service as required
  • Pre-arrival first aid advice
  • Transfer to the nearest appropriate hospital
  • Transfer of life saving medication
  • Care of stranded minors
  • Inter-hospital transfer or Inter-facility transfer of a patient by road transport
  • Repatriation of mortal remains. Should a patient die outside their residential town more than 300 km from their usual residence, arrangements will be made to repatriate the mortal remains to the residential town
